Dry Fruits falls under HSN 0801 to 0813.
There is no single HSN code for dry fruits: each nut or fruit has its own heading (almonds and walnuts 0802, cashews 0801, dried dates and figs 0804, raisins 0806) and gift boxes of mixed dry fruits fall in 081350. Since 22 September 2025 most dried nuts and dried fruits are 5%, down from 12%. Dried tamarind is the exception kept out of the 0813 entry.

The number of digits depends on your aggregate turnover in the previous financial year. Dry Fruits has no single code, so use the heading of the exact item you sell; the example below uses 0802.
| Turnover last year | Digits | Write |
|---|---|---|
| Up to Rs 5 crore | 4 on B2B invoices, optional on B2C | 0802 |
| Above Rs 5 crore | 6 on every invoice | 080211, 080132, 080410 |
| Export or import | 8 on the shipping bill or bill of entry | From the Customs Tariff, chapter 08 |
Here is how a line for dry fruits looks on a tax invoice within one state: 5 × kg box at Rs 1,450.00 each, taxed at 5%. The figures are an example, not a market price.
| Item | HSN | Qty | Rate (Rs) | Taxable (Rs) | CGST (Rs) | SGST (Rs) | Total (Rs) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dry Fruits | 0802 | 5 × kg box | 1,450.00 | 7,250.00 | 181.25 | 181.25 | 7,612.50 |
Sold to a buyer in another state, the same line carries IGST of Rs 362.50 instead of CGST and SGST. Make the full invoice with the GST invoice format: it fills in the tax split, round off and amount in words.
Chapter 08 (Fruit and nuts) covers: Edible fruit and nuts, fresh or dried, including citrus and melon peel.

Above Rs 5 crore, write 6 digits, such as 080211, on every invoice. Shipping bills and bills of entry need the full 8 digit code from the Customs Tariff.
