Georgia bill of sale form: fill in, print and sign

A Georgia bill of sale records that a seller sold a vehicle, boat or other item to a buyer for a stated price on a stated date. Georgia's Form T-7 is the state bill of sale. It records the sale and the odometer declaration and goes to the county tag office where the buyer lives.

Is a bill of sale required in Georgia?

Georgia has an official form, the Bill of Sale (Form T-7). The Department of Revenue does not describe Form T-7 as needing a notary.

How to transfer a vehicle in Georgia

  1. The seller signs the title over to the buyer. Georgia titles are required for 1986 and newer vehicles.
  2. Seller and buyer complete Form T-7 or a bill of sale that shows the year, make and VIN and is signed by the seller.
  3. For a 1985 or older vehicle without a title, the seller's bill of sale is what lets the buyer register it.
  4. The buyer takes the documents to the county tag office within 30 days and pays the title ad valorem tax (TAVT).

A dealer's invoice is not accepted in place of a bill of sale for a vehicle without a title.

How to fill in this Georgia bill of sale

The form above opens with Georgia already chosen. Enter the seller and buyer, the county, what is being sold, the year, make, model and VIN (or hull ID for a boat), the odometer reading and the price. The price is written out in words, and the text is written for you as you type. Choose "Yes" under notary acknowledgment to add a notary block, then print two copies and sign them. Download a PDF or an editable Word file, or print.

Rules, fees and forms change. Check the current requirements on the Georgia Department of Revenue, Motor Vehicle Division website before you sell. For other states, see bill of sale by state or the general bill of sale template.
