What the invoice reader extracts
Invoice OCR reads an invoice the way a person would and types it into a spreadsheet for you. Drop supplier invoices or purchase orders, and you get the header fields and every line item, ready for your books, a payment run or a cost sheet.

How the numbers are checked
The AI copies amounts as printed and never calculates them. Our code then adds the line amounts and compares them with the subtotal, and checks that subtotal, minus discount, plus shipping and tax gives the total. When something does not add up, the document is marked so you look at that one first. In the Excel file the "Check" column says ok or check for each document.
Purchase order to invoice
A supplier who receives a PO can turn it into a proforma invoice: read the PO, press "Create a proforma invoice from this PO", and our proforma invoice generator opens with the buyer, items, quantities and prices filled in. An invoice you received opens in the commercial invoice generator the same way, which helps when you re-invoice goods.
Scans and phone photos
A PDF from accounting software has a text layer and reads exactly. A scan or photo is read by OCR on your device first; keep the page flat, well lit and fully in view. Handwritten invoices read poorly with any OCR, so check those rows with care.

Your files are opened in your own browser. A digital PDF's text is read directly; a scan or photo is read by OCR on your device, and the OCR engine downloads once from a public CDN. Only the text goes over an encrypted connection to our own AI server, is used once and is not saved. Nobody needs an account.

What is invoice OCR?
Optical character recognition for invoices: software reads the text of an invoice image or PDF and turns the fields and line items into data you can put in a spreadsheet or accounting system.
Can it read several invoices at once?
Yes, up to 10 files at a time. Each becomes one row on the Documents sheet of the Excel file, and all their lines go on the Line items sheet.
Does it work on scanned and photographed invoices?
Yes. Images and scanned PDFs are read by OCR in your browser before the fields are extracted. Clear, flat images give the best result.
How accurate is it?
Digital PDFs are read exactly as printed. With scans, OCR can misread a character, so the totals check marks documents whose lines or totals do not add up. Always check those before you pay or post them.
Is my invoice stored?
No. The file stays on your device; only its text is sent to our own AI server, used once and not saved.
Is it free?
Yes, with no sign up. Each file counts as one use of a fair use limit of a few runs per hour, which keeps our own AI server fast for everyone.
